Concerto is a sampler style scarf and stole, designed with first time lace knitters in mind, but the variations in the pattern provide an interesting and relaxing knitting experience for more advanced knitters as well.

Knit, purl, YO, left and right leaning decreases, one style of double decrease, cast on, bind off, and the optional centered eyelet are the skills combined to create the seven primary lace patterns in Concerto. Each motif is worked long enough for the knitter to become comfortable with the pattern, but then changes in time to keep the knitting fresh and interesting.

The pattern contains basic instructions, full charts, and line-by-line written versions for Concerto as both a scarf and a stole in either of two lengths, with optional fringe. The 16-page pattern includes full charts and line-by-line written versions.

In the ebook, Concerto Shawl and Scarf with Tutorial, preceding the patterns, there is a 27-page tutorial, which includes instructions for everything from choosing supplies and reading knitting charts, to blocking lace and adapting patterns. The tutorial/pattern combination is a complete and effective course for the beginning lace student. Each part of Concerto has at least one lesson to teach, and the eight sample charts of the tutorial provide the learner an opportunity to practice their new skills before trying them on a special project. Having completed Concerto and the tutorials, the knitter will have a solid foundation for future explorations in lace knitting and be armed with several lesser known, useful techniques to employ on other projects.

This set of friendly, easy to understand lessons is the updated version of the tutorials originally published by the author for the highly successful online Concerto Knitalong and lace class in 2009.

A printed, bound version of the book, as well as a printed version of the pattern are available in my etsy store.

Yardage estimates (have not made all possible options!):
