We are:
“The Knitter” : Mona Olsson
“The Storyteller”: Vibeke Høie (illustrator/designer )

You can get additional information on our work and technique on our instagram page @bytheknittingstories. It will be helpful to watch some of the films that you find there if this is the first time you try this type of embroidery.

Dancing Daisy is a cute sweater with raglan lining, which is knitted from the bottom up. The sweater is knitted with a thread Arwetta together with a thread Tilia from Filcolana.

About the included embroidery:

The pattern includes 1 ballerina and several daisies.

Only one type of stitch is used, simple back stitches. We first embroider the outline around the figures, then we fill in with colors inside (filling stitch).

The filling stitches should be as close as possible to avoid the background color showing through. They can very well overlap each other. It is nice to vary the length of these stitches.

NB! The result will be prettiest if you let the stitches follow the curves of the figures.

Sizes:
1 (2) 4 (6) 8 (10) years
Overall width: 62 (65) 69 (73) 76 (80) cm
Full length: 34 (36) 38 (43) 47 (51) cm

The measurements given are not body measurements but measurements of a finished knitted sweater if the correct knitting tension is observed. The sizes are indicative.

Guiding needles:
Circular needle no. 3 ½ and 4
Double pointed needles size 3 ½ and 4

Knitting guage:
22 stitches x 30 rounds of stockinette stitch on needle no. 4 = 10 x 10 cm

Yarn for sweater:
Arwetta and Tilia from Filcolana:
971 Sand Arwetta
100 (150) 150 (200) 200 (200) gram
336 Latte Tilia
50 (75) 75 (100) 100 (100) gram

There are many yarn alternatives for this knitting guage. If you choose a different yarn, it is important that you check the running length.

Yarn for embroidery:
201 Deep Mahogany
135 Straw
196 French Vanilla

NB! It is up to you whether you want to buy the embroidery thread we have used, or whether you want to use leftover thread that you already have. NB! Remember that if you use leftover yarn, you must be sure that the yarn you embroider with is made of the same material as the yarn you knit the vest with. We therefore recommend embroidering a little on a sample patch and test washing it, if you are unsure about the choice of yarn. Different quality of the yarn can cause the garment to be damaged in the wash.

Other accessories:

Embroidery ring: with a minimum diameter of 13 cm and 7 cm
