The idea behind these designs is to maximize the yardage of handspun yarn. To me, the most efficient way to economize yardage is to combine handspun with commercial or scraps of handspun. This hat has built in slouch made using short rows to conserve yarn as opposed to making a longer, tube-like hat to achieve slouch. The fingerless mittens use the same theory with corrugated ribbing and thus I have knit two beautiful, functional pieces using under 200 yards of handspun. Yay me!

Yarn is spun 2 ply at 12 wpi, worsted weight.
