Irish Crochet Tam

This pattern is available as a free Ravelry download

I found some old store stock and have a few kits available in my etsy store. With the original vintage 1980’s yarn I used in my original items see photos. Kit comes with 3 balls of vintage Bernat Cassino and 5 antique mother of pearl buttons too all you supply is hooks time and skill. The pattern is included free just as a curtsy to people not on ravelry who can not download it for free but all kits do include the pattern if you are or are not on ravelry. (plus a surprise thank you in each kit)

errata
in the pattern it talks about holding two strands together that is if you can not get the original yarn so you are holding two strands of size 5 pearl cotton if you have the original yarn just one

Lovely Irish crochet details on this tam.
about 5 1/2 to 6 ounces of thread needed for this project

Samples are all in one color of yarn but would be lovely if colors are added to the Irish crochet details or the lace edging
hooks used are a 5 and 8 steel
and an G and H aluminum
all are needed for the project

i used bernat cassino for mine but size 5 pearl cotton held two strands together will get you the same type of yarn in weight texture and thickness 5 .5 ounces needed 3 balls please do crochet tightly or it will not be enough yarn

Also this yarn likes to stretch so it is best to make a liner. If you do that you will have to figure out that part yourself. But a pretty silk is nice inside make sure the liner will fit you then sew it into the hat at the brim and at the point where the brim transitions from brim to hat

was informed of a mistake in the pattern that is now fixed and updated

I have now made it free because of the new tax laws in Europe that I do not care to deal with.
