During an excursion into the Sacred Valley outside of Cusco, Peru, we asked our driver to take us somewhere for lunch. He drove us to a small town and we were guided into a hidden gem of a restaurant. While waiting for our food, I noticed the bold geometric patterning on the floor and my mind began to ponder how this simple, repeating pattern might translate into a knitted wrap.

Because of its simple, linear design I thought that this pattern would feel wonderfully contemporary as a rectangular wrap. When choosing the yarn, I decided on Cascade Roslyn because the silk adds a tweedy effect so similar to the stippling of the linoleum tiles.

Knitting Knowledge
This project is worked flat and requires the following techniques:
• Cast-on
• Knitting/purling
• Reading charts
• Applied i-cord
• Binding off and finishing

In this project, it is necessary to carry the unused yarn (float) over as many as 13 stitches before changing color. Because of this, I recommend securing the floating yarn every other stitch. If this is done throughout the work, it creates a beautiful, almost woven, fabric on the back.
