I guess one could say Mediterranea is a wide scarf or a narrow shawl, depending on how you choose to see it. The idea was to make the most out of a beautiful, variegated sock yarn, with a rather easy-to-memorize pattern recipe, so that I could carry my project in my bag and outdoors and I hope that you will be able to do the same. You can opt for a short or a longer version of the pattern; in fact you can knit for as long as your yarn lasts. You start with a number of stitches and a nice, sort of “textured” openwork repeat. As you proceed, you keep increasing 1 stitch on the same edge of every row, creating a beautiful wide crescent shape that will hug your neck. The other edge is the slightly textured lace part that adds interest to your project. The result is a light, airy scarf to wrap around your neck and be warm and elegant!
