Given the small amount of yarn needed, this garment can be a useful stash-buster. I just recommend a bulky weight yarn in solid or semi-solid color, which can give the correct gauge. Yardage required is around 140m (130yd), and if you use a wool/acrylic blend, as I did, this should be more or less 100g (3.5 oz) of yarn.

This cowl is knitted as a rectangle at first, with an overall “web stitch pattern” (neck part), then accurately placed increases shape it to make it lean on the shoulders (shoulder part).
Web pattern is made of columns of knit sts on a reversed stockinette background “linked” here and there to create the effect of a web.
The incorporated buttonband is made ribbing in k1,p1 some stitches at beginning and at the end of each row. The buttonband holes are worked with YOs and following decreases. Before binding off, border is adorned with some little leaves that make it more gentle and feminine.

Difficulty level: intermediate.
Knitter should be able to knit, purl, work YOs and related decreases, purl through the back loop and knit 2 or 5 sts together when required.
