These quick fingerless gloves take a small amount of yarn (even one skein, depending on what yarn you use), and use simple knit-and-purl only charts. (One test-knitter said they would make a good introduction to charts.) The pattern PDF contains 6 pages and both written and charted directions.

Structure (from the pattern text)

These fingerless gloves are knit in the round from the cuff to the 1x1 ribbing at the finger-edge (a.k.a. top). Cuff is a patterned rib with a rolled edge option. The body of the gloves features a raised diamond pattern formed by purl stitches on a field of stockinette.

Pattern is written in one size, as the gloves are stretchy and will probably fit most women at the smaller size. Size can be adjusted with yarn weight and size of knitting needles. DK/light worsted weight yarn knitted at a gauge of 5 sts/inch will produce a size small pair, and aran/heavy worsted weight knitted at 4.5 sts/inch will produce a size large.

Additional Materials

  • Waste yarn — about 6 inches
  • Yarn needle (for placing sts on waste yarn and for weaving in ends)
  • Stitch markers — 2 (for marking edges of thumb gussets)
