A family legend, now available to knitters. My younger son coined the phase when he was about 4 and used it to torment his older brother on dark car rides, using his blankie as his Ghostie costume. I recreated the spirit of the blankie in the points on the Ghostie.

Scary Ghosties can be made in 2 sizes and are a quick knit requiring little yarn. Gauge is not important, I get about 6 st per inch and 12 garter stitch rows per inch.

Knit a bunch to hang in your trees this Halloween.

You will need to know how to do short rows, decreasing and increasing stitches. If Kitchener’s stitch is too daunting, try the 3 needle bind off or simply sew the back seam. Eyes can be added by embroidery or instructions are included to make knit eyes. Stuff the head with a Ping Pong ball or use scrap yarn to make a ball. Optional directions for making a ghost “petticoat” if the Ghostie is not holding shape well.

A kit with glow in the dark filament is available in my etsy shop.
