“The Edge of the Cloud” is a simple garter stitch shawl with a beautiful twisted edge. This shawl would make a great accessory for any time of the year. The shawl is seamless and knitted bottom-up. The shawl is a very quick knit and would be a great project for a beginner as well as experienced knitter.

The twisted edge is fun to knit. Photo tutorial on how to knit the twisted row is included in this pattern as a separate PDF file.

Finished Size:
The sample shawl in the photographs after blocking measures 158 cm (62 inches) for the straight edge on the top of the shawl and 49 cm (19 inches) for the height of the shawl at the center. You can easily make it bigger or smaller.

Gauge:
The gauge is not critical in knitting this shawl. Adjust your needle size to suite your yarn and achieve the size and the look of the shawl of your choice.

Yarn: elann.com Peruvian Baby Silk (80% Alpaca, 20% Silk, fingering, 4ply).
7 skeins = 763.0 yards (697.7m) of colorway “Parchment” knitted double was used for the sample shawl.

The yarn can be substituted for a sport weight or DK weight yarn. The required yardage then would be 400 yards.
