The cuff of this ethnographic mitten begins with a two color Latvian braid followed by a two color half braid and a small band before transitioning to the upper mitten. The graph appears to be a variation on the “crayfish” pattern seen on p 54. This 96 stitch mitten knitted in the gauge noted above will fit a medium size woman’s hand. Check your gauge in pattern before casting on.

Lielvarde is located southeast of Riga along/near the Daugava River.
