Deb Barnhill

I started tinkering with patterns many years ago, but refused to call it designing. In 2005, I met Cat Bordhi at a retreat, and she encouraged me to put pen to paper and get some patterns out there. The result is the small collection you see here, with more brewing in my head at all times.

I’ve had the good fortune to have several patterns published in Knitty.com, Knotions.com, Alpacas magazine the 2008 Interweave title, “Knitting Socks with Handpainted Yarns” and Judy Becker’s “Beyond Toes” (Indigo Frog Press 2011). As well, I have done designs and samples for several of my favourite yarn shops.

I am a fledgling teacher who has had the great fortune to teach at Sock Summit in 2009 and 2011. Last year, I was honoured with the title of Sock Summit’s Fastest Sock Knitter. I celebrated with donuts. Voodoo Donuts.

My reputation for speed seems to follow me, and has led to lots of work in the industry of late, producing samples for authors, publishers and designers. Message me for rates, timelines and references.

I am currently in the brainstorming stages for my first book, and am extremely grateful to Cat Bordhi and her Visionary group for bringing me into their fold and supporting me.

I blog sporadically, but love visitors and welcome your comments.

Please join me in my new (as of August 2011) Rav Group, I’ve got a crush on Deb Barnhill.
