I’ve been a knitter for a really long time. In fact I can barely remember a time when I couldn’t knit. When I’m not knitting, I’m thinking about it. I like to design my own patterns and sometimes an idea is floating around my brain, changing detail and shape, for quite a while before I feel it’s ready to be ‘born’ and I finally knit it up and write it down. Even then I re-visit designs (sometimes months later) that aren’t totally right and tweak them until I’m happy. I like to write about knitting and my patterns often feature a paragraph or two of my wit and wisdom as well as what inspired me to design each piece.
The rest of my time is taken up with day-to-day household routines, family and animals, and when it’s nice I like to do gardening. My ideal day would be spent sitting under the tree in my garden, notebook and knitting to hand, with a nice pot of tea. And a large quantity of chocolate.
