Yvonne Tate

Yvonne, of Vonne’s Crochet & Beading, is from Brooklyn, New York.

In honor of my mother, who taught me both to knit and crochet, I continue to share my love of crochet through teaching.

In addition to teaching Crochet at Vogue Knitting Live’s 10th Anniversary event, I’ve also and since had the pleasure of teaching for Fiberworld, STITCHES Expo at Home, Knit City Canada and Edmonton Fibre Frolic!

As a member of the New York City Crochet Guild, I participated in the Craft Yarn Council’s Inaugural Certified Instructors Program and became a Certified Crochet Teacher in 2003. I am also a former officer of The New York City Crochet Guild and an Associate Professional member of the Crochet Guild of America.

For the past 18 years, I have taught, done demos and self-published crochet designs for local groups and yarn shops, including Birch Hollow Fibers, Neighborhood Fiber Co., The New York City Crochet Guild, Bead Biz, The Yarn Tree Brooklyn, Tess Designer Yarns, Twisted Sistah Beads & Fibers, Creative Yarn Source and Slip Stitch Needlecraft.

Over the course of a decade, I have also taught on multiple occasions at the Saturday Activity Program for DC37, the city’s largest Municipal Workers’ Union.

I have supported and participated in various charities and activities, including the Special Olympics, Operation Gratitude, the Hyperbolic Coral Crochet Reef Project, and Hats4TheHomeless. In addition, I have designed exclusive crochet hat patterns for Halos of Hope, and currently have a crochet block design featured at Warm Up America!

My creative process stems from the curiosity of combining stitches and techniques. I love working with independent dyers and vendors, and taking crochet designs outside the box!
