This is the 3rd shawl pattern in the Celtic Shawl Series.

Read Stacey’s (Knit Picks) blog post about the photo shoot here.

On the Moor is a Faroese-style shawl that incorporates shoulder shaping and a tapered back panel for a unique fit.

The spectacular double-loop closed-ring cable on the centre-back panel holds pride of place; the wings of the shawl are worked in a lattice pattern to complement, but not overshadow, the cable centrepiece. The rope-cable border that edges the entire shawl provides the perfect finishing touch.

General Construction Notes
The shawl begins at the neck with a provisionally cast-on cabled tab; stitches are then picked up along one long edge of the tab and from the provisional cast-on edge; both ‘wings’ are increased regularly while the slightly tapered centre-back cable panel is increased at a reduced rate; extra increases are worked along the shoulder lines for the unique Faroese shaping. The cabled front edges are continued around the bottom of the shawl; corners are turned using short rows; the final edging stitches are joined using a 3-Needle Bind Off.
