1:12th scale knit rugs & baskets
Ability Level – Intermediate
NOTE: this is not a suitable project for a novice, as two yarns are used together to make the items in this pattern and knitting with doubled yarns takes practice.
All items: one pair size 2 mm knitting needles plus
Either mat - 25 metres pure new wool and 25 metres 1-ply cotton or cotton mix yarn.
Large basket – 15-20 metres Appletons Old English Crewel wool and 15 metres 1-ply cotton or cotton mix yarn.
Small basket – 10-15 metres Appletons Old English Crewel wool and 10 metres 1-ply cotton or cotton mix yarn.
Note on materials:
- If Appletons Old English Crewel wool is not available then another 1-ply pure wool yarn may be substituted. If these items are to be displayed in a dolls house and you don’t use Appletons Old English Crewel wool, then make sure the 1-ply wool you substitute has been mothproofed by the manufacturer.
- The wool and cotton yarn are used together, as one yarn, to give the required thickness, stiffness and texture
- Acrylic 1-ply yarns will not work well as a substitute in this pattern.
