Learn to knit small Christmas stockings with fair isle patterns! This PDF knitting pattern is for 16 different Christmas stockings and includes instructions for the planning and knitting process.

These small decorative Santa socks are perfect for small gifts, advent calendars, pets, as tree decorations etc. Some motives are traditional for Christmas, some are fun looking animals. I have developed these charts in the last 6 years on many Christmas stockings.

The charts are for:
Poinsettia
Pelican
Rocking horse
Penguins
Polar bear
Snowflake
Chesty cat
Owls
Monkey
Cat with eyes
Dog face
Snowman
Mice
Goat
Pug
Fox

1 stocking requires 4 complimenting colours of the same yarn, about 10g per colour. Any medium weight yarn will work. Make sure there are lots of different colours available.

I used:
King cole pricewise DK in colurs:
Grey-049 (about 10g), black-048 (about 10g),
white-001(about10g), yellow-055 (about 10g)

Set of double point needles (5)
Size Europe 4/ US 6
Tapestry needle

A basic understanding of fair isle knitting and knitting on double point needles is an advantage. I would rate this pattern as intermediate to advanced. The pattern contains lots of photographs.

Size: 4.5” (12cm) wide, 14” (35cm) long

21sts wide x 26sts high over 4x4”
(10x10cm)

Other kinds of yarn can be used, the size will depend on thickness of yarn.
