This pattern was published widely in England and in the United States in 1861. All versions seem to be identical; I don’t know who published it first. It can be made from sport or light dk weight yarn. The original version had a simple picked-up garter stitch border with ermine embroidery.

You may want to increase the size slightly, since the original is fairly small.
