This pattern was originally published in Vogue Knitting, Spring/Summer 1990 as #21 Shetland Lace Pullover. It was reprinted in Vogue Knitting, Fall 2007 (the 25th anniversary issue) using the name #19 Eyelet Sweater.

Pattern Description from Vogue Knitting, Fall 2007: “Lace has had a perennial place on VK’s pages. This pretty eyelet-patterned pullover from DKNY is anchored by a traditional Shetland-lace border and picot edging. Originally a spring/summer pattern, it gets winterized here in ‘4-Ply Soft’ merino wool from Rowan/Westminster Fibers.”

“Very oversized, Shetland lace pullover with set-in sleeves, round neck and picot hemmed edges.”

  • Bust at underarm: 56”/141cm
  • Length: 28”/71cm
  • Upper arm: 17”/43cm

Materials:

  • 1990 yarn: 12 1¾oz/50g balls each approx 175yd/160m) of Rowan/Westminster Trading Cabled Mercerized Cotton (cotton) in #301 natural.
  • 2007 yarn: 13 1¾oz/50g balls each approx 191yd/175m) of Rowan/Westminster 4-Ply Soft (merino wool) in #376 nippy
  • Size 2 (2.75mm) circular needles, 32”/80cm and 20”/50cm length or size to obtain gauge

Note: Before binding off for shoulders, neck and top of sleeves, do not work partial motifs of chart 2.
