This is a fundraising pattern for my late brother, Mino (1971-2004)

My late brother, Mino, loved music. He mentioned his favorite album in the acknowledgement of his Ph.D. thesis, which is very unorthodox, but tells much about his personality. Jazz was one of his favorites: Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Keith Jarrett.

This “2HB+S” series is designed with Double Herringbone Mesh (“2HB”) and Stockinette Stitch (“S”). “2HB” reminds me of jazz music. “Jarrett” is a long cowl with “2HB” running through in the center of the cowl, surrounded by “S”. The length may be customized to your liking.

Skills required: K, K2tog, P, Sl1-K2tog-psso, SSK, YO, Provisional Cast-On, Grafting/Kitchener Stitch

Finished size (Blocked): 9” width x 37” circumference (23cm x 94cm)

All the proceeds of this pattern will be donated to the Minoru Hokari Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Australian National University. My late brother, Minoru Hokari (“Mino” 1971-2004) died of cancer at the age of 32. The scholarship fund supports young scholars who study Indigenous Australians through fieldwork. We are trying to fully fund it to achieve its perpetuity. Please help.

Please visit Being Connected with HOKARI MINORU to meet Mino.
