The pattern in these socks is called “Sanquhar”, they are traditional Scottish motifs.

The socks are knit from the cuff down in the round with fingering yarn.
This pattern uses charts for the stranded knitting.

3 PDF files are included in the pattern:

2 sizes as seperate documents:

  • Small (60st around the leg)
  • Medium (66st around the leg)
  • A chart with 33 pattern-blocks and space to draw your own :)

You can easily make the sock (or foot) longer or shorter by changing the number of rows in the “salt-n-pepper”-pattern, or by adding/removing rows with Sanquhar-blocks.

Techniques used: stranded knitting, short rows, heel flap, kitchener stitch for closing the toe.

The medium size has been free for a limited time.
