I was simply trying to have a stress-free day, and went into a local gallery and saw an amazing glass plate.

The plate was divided into three sections with the first section being the largest; the second section was all kinds of beautiful colors in stripes; and, the third section was a different color than the top of the plate. I fell in love with it and it inspired me to design this shawl.

I used 272 yds of Color 1 (beige), 270 yds of Color 2 (Stripes) and 180 yds of Color 3 (Green).

The body of the shawl is a very simple stockinette that knits up quickly because it is so easy. I love the fact that I had to change directions to complete the striped section. The border is a simple lacy ruffle that is done in no time at all, even though the border increases quite rapidly.

I stretched the heck out of it in blocking to show off the striping and get a good width.
