This not-so-basic shrug has lots great features. Short row shaping eliminates the usual pouching of excess fabric at the back sides, instructions are included for optional thumbholes, and the cross back measurement can easily be adjusted to fit your own personal size. Sleeve circumference measurements are for a close-fitting shrug, so go for a larger size if you want room in the sleeve. A textured stitch pattern finishes the sleeve cuffs. This piece is a must have for any wardrobe! If you are interested in a girls’ version of this shrug, check out ABBIE.

Yardage requirements:
Small: 810yds (740m)
Medium: 832yds (760m)
Large: 853yds (780m)
X-large: 875yds (800m)
For each inch added to or subtracted from cross back measurement, add or subtract approx. 22yds (20m) of yarn.

This pattern uses a provisional cast-on. For more information on this technique, visit How to Avoid the Provisional Cast-on Pitfall to get the best results with your finished project.
