This chevron shawl has a number of interesting features:

  • The solid sections are wound off and used to create the contrasting color stripes.
  • There are five new techniques that have been announced on the Knitting Nuances blog that update the chevron pattern: they include a decorative cast on, raised decrease, two new increases and a 3-needle garter join.

The blog announcement has links to each of the techniques, most of which are just tweaks to things you already use. You’re sure to use them again and again in other patterns. Several have YouTube support videos to help you get started.

These techniques have been combined to create a variable width chevron wave that transitions from sharp-pointed shaping to rolling waves.

Skill Level: This is an intermediate and above project. While each of the techniques is not difficult, a working knowledge of various skills including increases, decreases, 3-needle bind off, and knit 1 row below.

There are more photos and details in the blog announcement that you may find helpful.
