It began with a little hat with a visor. The little hat needed a jacket to match so I searched for an interesting detail to add and once I decided on the striped piping, I knew Little Pete was all set to sail the seven seas.

The following applies for both the hat and the jacket

Size
Newborn to three/four months

Yarn
Approximately 380m/423y each of two colors in fingering weight or 4-ply wool for both the hat and the jacket.

2m/2.2y of highlight color for the twisted cord.

I used HjerteGarn Ciao Trunte, 100% Merino wool.

Needles

2,5mm/US1.5 or size that will give you gauge
2,0mm/US0 for closing the piping and the visor, for hat ribbing
2,0mm/US0 dpns for I-cords

Gauge
32sts/56rows = 10cm/4” in striping pattern

Notions
Stitch markers, darning needle, waste yarn, crochet hook in size 1,75mm
