The Alder Bag is a simple to knit bag based on the Japanese Knot bag style.

Whilst knitting the Alder Blanket I thought it would be nice to give a little accessory bag along with it for keeping little things to hand, after all, a mother never has enough hands!

The body of the bag is knitted in one piece and seamed with the handles added on afterwards.
The bag has a square base in garter stitch which extends up the sides and around the top. This frames the pattern stitch which is made to match the Alder Blanket.

The bag is suitable for the beginning knitter with a little experience and all techniques are straightforward.
Full seaming instructions are given along with pictures to help you on your way if needed.

The samples pictured used Cascade Pacific for the light coloured bag and Rowan Hemp Tweed for the blue bag.

The pattern can be knitted in any Aran or Worsted weight yarn, but a firm yarn will give good results.
