Alex is rustic, tweedy, and a FUN hat to knit!

I made it using the original Peace Fleece (one of my very favorite yarns) and incorporated lots of cables for extra-warm and extra-woolly goodness.

The cables wind their way up and down the hat all the way around…over and under, under and over, in and out and because of all the extra winding that the cables do, they require an extra cable needle (two instead of the one you’re probably used to)…

The cables are also a little bit of extra work, but they’re worth it; they positively POP off the finished fabric!

The pattern is written for two adult sizes:

The Small/Medium will fit up to a 22” head.
The Medium/Large will fit a 22” to a 24” head.

And it is knit to a gauge of 3.75 stitches and 5 rows per inch in stockinette stitch. You will need one skein of Peace Fleece, or, if you use a different yarn, approximately 200 yards of an aran or heavy worsted weight yarn.

You will need a stitch marker to mark the beginning/end of your rounds, and if you’d like to separate each cable repeat, you will need 8 or 9 additional markers that are different from your end/beginning of round marker.
