The apple chair pad is designed to fit on an IKEA Terje folding chair, which lots of people have and if you’ve ever sat on one for any length of time get pretty uncomfortable.

The colourwork for the red apples on the top and leaves underneath are knit using mosaic stitch and seamed together using I-cord which extends at the back to make ties. There is a buttoned opening on the underneath to allow the cushion pad to be easily inserted and removed.

Size: Finished size of 38cm x 33 cm x 2cm

Gauge: 32 sts and 52 rows = 10cm using using 3.0mm needle in mosaic stitch. Achieving gauge will be necessary to make the pillow cover fit the foam insert correctly.

Materials needed: 1 ball of bright green for leaves. 1 ball each of dark red and bright red for the apples and 3 balls of off white for the background and I-cord seam and ties.

Needles: Sizes 2.0mm and 3.0mm: straight or circular needles and a set of 2.5mm double-pointed needles.

Notions: 38cm x 33cm x 2cm foam pad; 5 x 2cm buttons, tapestry needle.
