Hat is 19cm (7½”) high. It is 23.5cm (9¼”) across (when folded in half). Fits heads between 53cm – 57cm (21¾” – 22½”) in circumference. Scarf extensions are 65cm (25½”) long and 10cm (4”) wide each.

This hat/scarf is surprisingly versatile size-wise. Knit it for an 8 - 10yr old child, and you’ll find a very snuggly hat with scarf that will keep your little warm warm and cosy on a snowy cold day. Knit it for an adult, and you get a cute beanie with scarf extensions that will still keep your ears warm.

As pure alpaca has a tendency to stretch, I’ve knitted the hat on smaller needles than normal for a DK-weight yarn. I’ve found this helps to stabilise the knitting and prevent stretching.

The brim features an easy slipped-stitch trellis pattern, garter stitch provides definition, and the top is in stocking stitch. The scarf is in simple 2 x 2 rib.
