Awake! came about as i was opening my eyes one lazy morning. In my mind’s eye, I suddenly saw this design - finished and knitted - in a warm sunny yellow. The rows of eyelets seemed to me to be like rays of sunlight streaming to the ground.
I had to get a pen and paper to quickly sketch the details before I forgot it - and after that, of course, I was awake, and had to get up. The shawl named itself!
Then I spent about 2 hours searching ravelry.com, convinced that I must have been subconsciously inspired by seeing a similar design in someone else’s portfolio - but I was unable to find anything quite like it. So… here it is!

Awake! is knitted from the top down, and has two versions. One suits gradient yarns and is a simpler stitch pattern; and the other has more stitch variation and suits plain colour yarns. Both are symmetrical triangle.

You can knit awake with any 100g skein (approx 350-450yd) of your favourite fingering-weight yarn… or just keep knitting until you’ve reached the size you want. Easily adjustable.

Gauge not vital. Approx 2 repeats of “diagonal rays” stitch pattern, and 15 rows, in 5cm (blocked).
Yellow sample dimensions: top edge approx 160cm, height 60cm (used 430yd). Your results will vary by yardage.
