Ayano = Japanese name meaning “of color, from love”

A gracefully curving shawl worked in three segments, Ayano is a fun way to play with color and texture. Knit any two coordinating or contrasting sock weight yarns, this makes a great stashbuster. Ayano is shaped as an almost-semi-circle, like a half-donut.

yarn: approx. 400 yds each fingering/sock weight yarn in 2 colors, MC & CC.
Shown in: Main Color (MC)-Smooth Merino Fine, (100% superwash merino, 400yds/4oz), Bacchus; Contrast Color (CC)- Silver Spoon, (superwash merino, silk, nylon, sterling silver; 400 yds/3.5oz), Edgar.

finished size: approx. 17” deep x 70” circumference along widest part of curve, after blocking.

needles: US size 5 (3.75mm)-32” circular (or longer).

gauge: 20 sts+ 40 rows=4” in garter st, before blocking.

notions: 4 stitch markers, tapestry needle, blocking pins and/or wires.

Charted and written lace.
