Hearthside Slippers sized for the little tots in your life! These boast an eye-catching colorwork cuff (choose from 3 designs), seamless construction, and an extra comfy double-knit sole. The cuff is lined for added warmth, and add optional ties to help keep them on wriggly feet!

A simple, crocheted border around the sole and cuff adds style and structure. Full instructions for working the crocheted border are included in pattern. (No prior crochet experience needed!)

NOTE: This pattern uses the double knit stitch (as opposed to double knitting). It’s not difficult and creates a great, thick and squishy sole!

Techniques used:
Working flat and in the round. German Short Rows (full instructions included in pattern). Picking up sts. Crochet chained border (full instructions included in pattern). Stranded colorwork (although the colorwork design uses 3 colors, only 2 colors are worked on any round.)

Sizes:
XS (S, M, L) to fit a baby/toddler approximately 0-6 mo (6-12 mo, 12-18 mo, 2-4 yrs)

Fits Foot Length: 3.75 (4.5, 5.25, 6)”
(Measure the recipient’s foot length for the best fit.)

Cuff Height: Approximately 2.5 (2.5, 3.5, 3.5)”

Yarn:
The colorwork designs use varying amounts of C1, C2, and C3. The amount listed is enough to work 1 pair in any colorwork design. Please note:
Chevron uses approximately 20% less C1 and 10% less C2.
Snowflake uses approximately 10% less C1 and C3.
Argyle uses approximately 15% less C2 and C3.

Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Superwash Bulky:
C1 (Sole - Dark):
35 (50, 60, 75) yds / 32 (46, 55, 69) m

C2 (Shoe - Medium):
30 (45, 55, 70) yds / 27 (41, 50, 64) m

C3 (Lining - Light):
40 (50, 60, 75) yds / 37 (46, 55, 69) m

Note: If substituting yarn, please note that Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Superwash Bulky is thinner than a traditional bulky yarn. It knits up more like a thick Aran weight yarn. I recommend against using any yarn thinner than Aran weight as you want a dense fabric.

Yarn Colors Used:
Adult Snowflake: C1 - Cobblestone Heather; C2 - Dove Heather; C3 - White
Child & Baby Argyle: C1 - Coal; C2 - Camel Heather; C3 - White
Baby Chevron (L size): C1 - Garnet Heather; C2 - Cobblestone Heather; C3 - White
Baby Chevron (XS size): C1 - Cobblestone Heather; C2 - Dove Heather; C3 - White

Needles:
Shoe: US 6 (4 mm) straight (optional); US 6 (4 mm) circular (for use with Magic Loop Method) (47” / 120 cm); US H (5 mm) crochet hook

Cuff: US 8 (5 mm) DPNs (4) OR circular (47” / 120 cm); US 7 (4.5 mm) DPNs (4) OR circular (47” / 120 cm)

NOTE: The Magic Loop Method is recommended for Steps 2-4. Continue working the Cuff with this method or switch to DPNs.

Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge. Gauge for the shoe is extremely important as stitch and row counts are exact throughout the pattern.

Gauge:
Stockinette St: 5 sts and 7 rows = 1 inch with US 6

Double Knit Sole:
8 sts (4 sts as seen on the RS) and 10 rows (5 rows as seen on the RS) = 1 inch with US 6

Crochet Chained Border:
5 crocheted sts = 1 inch with size H crochet hook

Colorwork Cuff & Lining:
Approximately 5 sts and 6 rnds = 1 inch with US 8 (colorwork) & US 7 (lining)

Notions:
Stitch markers; tapestry needle; fabric paint for soles (optional)
