After making this pattern for both summer and winter babies, I decided to include separate patterns for a warmer sleep sack, with a strand of cashmere held along with main yarn, and cooler version of this pattern which uses onely one strand at a time. This pattern worked from the bottom up. The bottom starts out in 2 flat pieces. Each is worked flat on a US6 circular needle, then joined and worked in the round. Lang Lily ‘yarn’ is really more like tape creating a soft color and a soothing look. Lang Lily is DK weight and three 50 g. balls are required for a summer sack and 4 for a winter sack. The top is done in Emma’s Super Silky yarn which is silky and soft fingering weight yarn perfect for babies. One skein of Emma’s super silky is required. The Super silky left over can be used to make a matching newborn hat also included in this pattern. Winter sack also uses two 50 g. balls of Filatura di Crosa superior cashmere in lace weight. Mohair or other soft lace weight yarn can also be used.

US6 double points or flexi flips are used to make i-cord edging around top of sack. Any kind of embellishment can be added to front. Instructions include option to knit heart into your work.

I spent many hours on this pattern and have made it five times.
Pattern is extremely detailed and includes pictures and ‘alerts’ in parts where mistakes might happen.
