How to crochet a cute, easy single crochet bag perfect for running errands or a night out on the town, or if you’re like me, holding your crochet supplies!

There is also a video tutorial included.

Materials:

  • 115 yards of Worsted Weight Yarn - I used Lily Sugar n Cream in Dark Pine
  • H8/5mm Crochet Hook
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Optional, Jewelry Pliers
  • Optional, Stitch Marker
  • Optional for Lining: Fabric, Zipper, Sewing Machine &/or Needle & Thread (I used a 9” x 6” pre-made bag I got at Hobby Lobby that I stuck inside & then sewed in place)

Material Notes:
Yarn Alternatives: Lion Brand Re-Up, WeCrochet Dishie with I9/5.5mm Hook (because it’s a touch thinner)

I recommend cotton yarn because it’s more durable, and this bag will most likely see a lot of use, and being pulled and pushed around in a larger bag/purse.

Other Recommended Yarns (with I9/5.5mm Hook because it’s not as relaxed as cotton): Red Heart Super Saver, Bernat Super Value, Caron One Pound

Weaving in ends of a tough yarn, like cotton yarn, can be hard on the fingers. Sore thumbs and frustration can be a thing of the past by simply using jewelry pliers to carefully help pull the tapestry needle through the work.

Time Spent:
Just over an hour and fifteen minutes.

Gauge, in Pattern:
15 SC by 17 Rows = 4.13” (or 4 1/8”) Wide

Abbreviations (US Terms):

  • HDC - Half Double Crochet
  • SC - Single Crochet
