This version is flexible and can be used for almost any hat base. One of the nice things about the hdc beanie is a much closer or “tighter” fabric, as compared to the dc beanie which tends to work up a little more loosely. You’ll just have to decide whether your particular hat needs a tighter fabric or more loose drape.

There are tons of good basic beanie or hat patterns for free on the internet, at Ravelry and on several crochet bloggers’ sites that I enjoy. This is my version and I’ve found it to be fairly true to size and measurements. I hope you find this pattern useful. If you find an error or have a question please leave a comment here or on Facebook and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. Feedback rocks!
