The Begin Again Hat is the companion pattern to the Begin Scarf, also designed to be a first knitting pattern. A hat is slightly less basic than a scarf. Here the knitter learns to knit and purl, to knit in the round on circular needles, as well as knit-two-together and a basic finish for the top of a hat. The result is a warm beanie with a squishy garter stitch brim.

Learning to knit is a rewarding and sometimes confusing task, and a knitting pattern can be full of what seems to be a secret code. In the Begin Again Hat, useful techniques to look up on YouTube have been highlighted so that they are easy to search. I chose not to include specific links because there is a goldmine of helpful knitters on YouTube and exploring that goldmine and getting to know which videos are most helpful to each individual seems like part of the process of learning to knit.
