This stashbusting shawl takes root in your previous knitting projects, inheriting their leftover yarns to create something new and unique. To beautifully showcase all of its ancestors, the Beloved Roots Shawl is made in garter stitch to allow the composition of a graceful fade, no matter how many colors you want to use. A cable goes across the body and gets larger near the end, reminding of roots. To make it stand out, the cable part is worked with a strand of mohair held together with your yarns. The shawl is fully reversible and adaptable in size, it can be made larger or smaller according either to your taste or to the size of your leftover yarns bin!

Notes

• This shawl has a basic shape and a simple pattern to highlight the yarn colors. It is meant to be faded, but could also be striped.
• It can be made with as many colors as you want. Using only one color will also create a lovely result (but maybe not as fun)! You can also decide to work it without mohair.
• Stitch gauge may slightly differ between the cables and garter stitch. If it’s very different, use bigger needles to knit the border.
• Row gauge can differ between both stitch patterns. Blocking will sort it out!

The prototype was made in Miss Babs Caroline (Rosy Finch and Dark Adobe), La bien aimée Cashmerino (Peerie Voe, Fauna and Quartz Fumé), Rowan Kidsilk Haze (Steel) and Austermann Kid Silk (Mauve).

This shawl is adaptable in size and gauge, yardage can vary according to the dimensions you wish to achieve or the yardage available to you.

Sample measures 55” (140 cm) at top edge by 30” (76 cm) at bind-off edge.

Ce châle prend racine dans vos tricots précédents : il hérite de leurs restants de laine et vous offre la chance de créer quelque chose de nouveau et d’unique. Afin de mettre en valeur tous ses ancêtres, le châle Racines chéries est fait en point mousse, le point idéal pour créer un joli dégradé, peu importe le nombre de couleurs utilisées. Une torsade longe le bord du châle et s’élargit vers la fin du tricot, donnant l’impression que la bordure est composée de racines. Les parties torsadées sont tricotées avec un fil de mohair qui les démarque des sections en point mousse. Le châle est parfaitement réversible et sa taille est adaptable : il peut être très grand ou petit, selon vos goûts et selon le nombre de restants de laine que vous avez sous la main !

Notes

• Ce châle a une forme simple et des points de tricot simples afin de mettre en valeur la couleur des fils utilisés. Les instructions permettent de créer un dégradé, mais des rayures donneraient aussi un beau résultat.
• Il peut être tricoté avec n’importe quel nombre de couleurs. Bien qu’elle soit moins amusante à tricoter, une version unie peut donner un très joli résultat. Vous pouvez aussi opter pour une version sans mohair.
