‘Big Love’ is a versatile, square crochet blanket pattern, seen here in double knit yarn.

Skills
The blanket is made in square rounds, starting with a magic ring (tutorial and modification available)
Whilst the pattern is not overly complex, it uses techniques that you may not have seen before. It uses linked treble crochet (UK linked double treble) throughout. There is a link to a stand alone tutorial for the linked trebles and a longer video tutorial which takes you through working the first few rounds of the project.
I created a special joining stitch just for this pattern. This allows the linked trebles to be worked in rounds without turning and is what gives the fabric its texture.

Sizing
The finished blanket you see here measures around 80cm / 32in square.
Working more rounds in the given pattern or increasing yarn weight and hook size will make a larger blanket.

Materials
The pattern can be worked with most yarns and yarn weights. I recommend going up one or two hook sizes to get a nice drape on your fabric.

The sample you see here was worked with a 5mm hook and used approximately 1120m / 1230yds, 400g of Scheepjes Softfun, DK weight, 60% Cotton,40% Acrylic, 50g ball = 140m / 154yds.
Yarn amounts will vary for different blanket sizes.

This pattern is not designed as a ‘baby blanket’ and is not intended for use in cots or cribs - babies and infants should not be left unattended with it.
