Grackle increases almost symmetrically to have a lovely, traditionally triangle-shaped shawl . The bonus Lorikeet chart included in this pattern has long, slow increases for a much more distinctive asymmetric look. Both utilize the fabulous feather-stitch pattern; a one-row lace repeat that can end after any row, so there is no planning involved in your yarn usage, and you can work through to the very last.

You can absolutely customize these patterns to your yarn. Use any weight yarn with an appropriate hook for the drape you desire (some hook/yarn suggestions are given in the pattern). I recommend no less than 350 yds for a scarf-size, and anywhere up to 1,000 yds for a very generous shawl.
