I wanted to make a Halloween pattern and when I thought of what would be a scary item, I immediately thought of spiders and black widows. Black widows still give me nightmares on occasion and so I made one to fit on my desk for the holidays.

He is accompanied by his larger brother, the black spider who watches the world, waiting for his prey.

Note: This pattern uses crochet for the body, knit for the legs and a bit of wire to hold the shape of the legs.

I have included images before the wire is added, after and ‘dead’ for your reference.
