Design
Bloomscape features a simple but striking lace stitch adorned with delicate nupps. The nupps are created over two rows. First, a single stitch is increased to 7 on a right-side row and then decreased back to one on a wrong-side row. The crescent shape of this shawl is made using simple yarn overs. Every right side row is increased by 2 stitches and every wrong side row is increased by 4. A herringbone lace edging is added to the shawl and a stretchy bind off is used to show off the dramatic points in the lace. The entire shawl is charted and includes written directions.
Note: If using 2 skeins of Hand-dyed yarn, use the first skein for chart A and the second skein for chart B. Make your gauge swatch with the second skein, as chart A will use up almost all of the first skein. Alternatively, you can change between skeins every 2 rows to avoid any color pooling.

:bulb: Design Tip: Double up your shawl by knitting a second shawl in a different color, with fewer or more edging repeats. The layered effect is an absolute Stunner! See the last two photos.

Gauge
(Worked flat in Lace stitch pattern, blocked)
18 stitches & 20 rows = 4” x 4” or 4.5 sts & 5 rows per inch
Note: See pg. 6 in pattern for swatching instructions. I recommend swatching first as this shawl has a short length and everyone’s gauge differs when creating Nupp stitches. Swatching is also perfect practice for working the lace pattern!
