I love tulips because they are a sign that spring has finally arrived. I found it very interesting when I read the other day that several plant breeders have tried to create blue tulips. So much easier to make your own using yarn.

These socks are knitted from the cuff down and feature a lace pattern reminiscent of tulips. The centre panel is the same for all sizes; the width of the side lace panels varies for each size. The socks are worked with heel flap and gusset; the lace pattern is continued onto the heel flap.

The pattern includes three sizes: Women’s S, M and L to fit leg circumference 17.5 (20.5, 22.5) cm 7 (8, 9)“. Leg length including heel results in 22 (23.5, 25) cm 8.5 (9.25, 10)“ when knit as given in the pattern. Foot length is adjustable.

You can choose to work the pattern either from the charts or the written instructions.

Material: 1 skein of fingering weight yarn with a yardage of approximately 400 m (440 yds) per 100 g.
Notions: 3 stitch markers, one of them movable; darning needle; 60 beads in size 6/0; fine crochet hook (small enough to fit throug the beads)
