Borobudur is a 9th century Mahayana Buddhist Temple in Central Java, Indonesia. It’s a place for Buddhist pilgrimage.

The majesty of its shape inspired me to create lace motif depicting the bell-shaped stupas which housed Buddha statues. I also picked stone-colored yarn so it matches the color of the temple itself.

The hat is worked bottom up in the round, with Borobudur lace motif showing between pillars of twisted ribbing.
