A quick-knit jacket or coat for a 19th-century look. The long version has a pleated skirt. The third picture shows the side pleat detail. The pattern is written for a longer pleat.

This coat was designed for the 2011 “Monstrous Regiment” Challenge on Ravelry. The Ankh-Morpork Knitter’s Guild members combined forces to design garments for the characters in this Discworld novel, many of whom have clothing-type names. Sir Terry Pratchett, who writes the Discworld novels, is suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. As a result, the guild has agreed to donate all proceeds from the sale of the Monstrous Regiment patterns to Alzheimer’s research.
