Britt Poncho is a quick-knit poncho with a small rib detail around the neck and a button decoration. It is knit entirely in the round, so no seaming is necessary.

This is not a totally revised pattern using the same gauge as the original version. Downsizing the pattern and yet maintaining proportions of the garment won’t work. I’ve decided to give pithy instructions for downsizing this by changing needles and yarn instead!

The toddler size is very practical for throwing on when sitting in the buggy. Choose your size, needles and yarn and then work as per pattern.

Size A: 1-3 yrs
Yarn: 260 yd (240m) of DK/8 ply yarn with a recommended gauge of 20-21 sts
I used 2.5 skeins of Garnstudio Drops Karisma Superwash 260 yd (240 m): in 01 natural/undyed for the poncho in the photograph above.
Needles: US 6 – 4.0mm and US 7 – 4.5mm circular needles, the latter at least 80 cm/32” long.
Gauge: 20 sts over Stockinette stitches

Size B: 5-8 yrs
Yarn: 400-500 yd (370-470m) of Worsted/10ply yarn or Aran/10 ply yarn with a recommended gauge of 16-18 sts
Needles: US 8 – 5.0mm needles and US 9 – 5.5mm circular needles, the latter at least 80 cm/32” long.
Gauge: 17 sts over Stockinette sts

Size C: 10-12 yrs
Yarn: 400 yd (370m) of Bulky/12 ply yarn with a recommended gauge of 13-15 sts
Needles: US 10 – 6.0mm and US 10.5 – 7.0mm needles
Gauge: 14 stitches to 10 cm/4” on US 13 – 9.00 mm needles over stockinette stitch.
