Each spring, I wait patiently for the moment when the landscape transforms from winter to summer. I must not blink, because it happens so quickly… Nature turns completely upside down in just a few days, that I call the magical week of Spring. Budburst represents this whimsical transition, with its branches and puffy buds. It’s worked from the top down, with drop shoulders and a boxy fit. The shoulders and neckline are made using short-rows. The stitch pattern combines twisted stitches and bobbles worked in a contrasting color, in stranded colorwork. The twisted stitches are made without a cable needle for a smooth knitting experience. About the sleeves, since I’m never sure if I need long or short sleeves at this time of year, I added both options to the pattern! Nine sizes are provided, each of them having a slightly different arrangement of stitch patterns, creating a pattern that continues seamlessly around the whole body for each size.

Versatile pattern

• The pattern includes two options for sleeve length, and you could also opt for 3/4 sleeves.
• You can work the project with only one color, or a different contrasting color for each bobble row.
• Don’t get discouraged by all the bobbles! The pattern includes explanations to work the back in stockinette stitch.

About the prototype
Prototype is a size 2 worn with approx. 5” (13 cm) of ease.
It was made using Sonder Yarn Co. Sunday Morning DK, colorways Catnap (MC) and Full English (CC).

À chaque printemps, j’attends impatiemment le moment où le paysage troquera son habit d’hiver pour celui d’été. J’attends, sans cligner des yeux, puisque cette magie s’opère en un clin d’oeil… La nature est complètement transformée en seulement quelques jours, que je surnomment la semaine magique du printemps. Le top bourgeonnant représente cette jolie transformation, avec ses petites branches et bourgeons colorés. Il est tricoté de haut en bas, avec une emmanchure droite et une coupe confortable. Les épaules et l’encolure sont façonnés à l’aide de rangs raccourcis. Le motif combine des mailles croisées avec des nopes tricotées dans un coloris différent. Les mailles croisées sont faites sans utiliser d’aiguille à torsade, pour une expérience de tricot plus agréable. À propos des manches, puisque je ne sais jamais si je préfère porter des manches courtes ou des manches longues à ce temps-ci de l’année, j’ai pensé inclure les deux options dans le patron! De plus, neuf tailles sont expliquées, chacune d’entres elles ayant un agencement de motif légèrement différent, permettant d’avoir un motif continu sur tout le corps, pour toutes les tailles.

Patron versatile

• Le patron inclut deux choix de longueurs pour les manches, et vous pourriez également choisir de tricoter des manches 3/4.
• Ce projet peut être fait d’une seule couleur, ou encore, vous pourriez choisir d’utiliser une couleur différente pour chaque rang de nopes.
• Si vous désirez tricoter moins de nopes, le dos peut être tricoté en jersey. Les explications pour réaliser cette modification sont incluses dans le patron.
