This easy-to-knit, incredibly flexible pattern allows you to create a custom-made reversible colourful blanket for someone you love or a forthcoming arrival. Choose your own colours, pictures, messages and size!

The pattern produces ‘square’ motifs measuring 17 x 16 cm (approx. 6-7 in) and provides templates for numerous images (including some not used in the blanket illustrated) and two full alphabets. The finished size of the blanket illustrated is 175 × 158 cm (69 × 62 in).

The sample is knitted in Morris Avalon 8 ply Pima Cotton (available at http://morrisandsons.com.au/c1_341_1694), but the pattern also provides suggestions for Lana Grossa Classico or you can use any yarn you like. The cotton does make the blanket very heavy and not so practical to wash, so you may want to take this into consideration when choosing your yarn.

The yardage given above is for the blanket illustrated but you can make your blanket as small or large as you like. The instructions are for how to make the blanket shown and how to create your own.

There are illustrated instructions for the optional method of joining the squares using crochet and also for adding an optional crocheted edge.
