This is a highly textured toy beloved by many infants. It is soft, machine washable, absorbent, and easy for little fingers to grasp. Because the ears often end up in little mouths, you might wish to avoid using fabric softener or other laundry additives.

The head of the bunny is stuffed with a small amount of polyester fiber fill.

I’ve labeled this an intermediate level because of the p3tog, slipped stitch pocket construction, casting on additional stitches in the middle of the project, short rows in the ear construction and stitching the face free-hand. I’ve added instructions in the areas that might be challenging to easy-level-only knitters.

Lion Brand no longer sells the 100% cotton worsted this design was created for and the pattern isn’t available through their web site though there is a similar pattern for another yarn they do have. I’ve made changes to it over the last 30+ years and hate to see it disappear so am offering it here with the notes and changes I’ve made.
