These socks are knit from the top (cuff) down and feature a checkerboard cable motif alternating with blocks of purl stitch.

Because of the repeat on the pattern for these socks, the easiest way to upgrade to a foot circumference of 9” a gauge of 8 sts/inch over stockinette. This may be achieved by working with a slightly thicker yarn and/or going up a needle size or two, as necessary. The length of these socks may be customized by working more or less stockinette rounds at the toe. Finally, this pattern has less stretch due to the cables. You may find it a better fit to work the leg on a size 1.5.

These socks have been tech-edited and test knitted, and are also available as part of the 5-sock Wooly Wonka Fibers 2013 Sock Collection ebook.
