This lightweight summer cardigan features a super-simple allover lace pattern and can be made in either a cropped or hip length, with cap or short sleeves. It is worked seamlessly from the top down and features contiguous set-in sleeves (method developed by SusieM. Cotton or a cotton blend makes it a cool and comfortable layer for summertime, and it is very thrifty on yarn, using only 300-700 yards.

The cardigan is not intended to meet or overlap in the front. A simple closure for the top can be made with a crochet chain. Because of the open front, the final garment measurements will be less than the body measurements of the wearer, and this is taken into account in sizing the pattern. Choose the size that most closely matches your actual bust. If you are between sizes, I’d recommend sizing up.

A little girl’s version,Little Calla, is also available.
